Veterans deserve care, respect, and access to the resources they’ve earned. That’s why we created DESERVE—a free, wheelchair-accessible transportation program dedicated to ensuring local Veterans can reach medical appointments and other essential services. Our mission is to remove transportation barriers so Veterans can focus on their health and well-being.
DESERVE provides Veterans with more than transportation; it offers peace of mind. We understand the challenges many Veterans face in accessing care, and our team is committed to bridging the gap. From doctor’s appointments at the Trinka Davis VA Clinic to trips to the grocery store, we help Veterans maintain their independence and quality of life.
Currently, DESERVE serves Veterans residing in Carroll County. With additional funding and community support, we aim to expand this vital program to Haralson, Heard, and Douglas counties. Every mile we drive brings us closer to our goal of serving all Veterans in West Georgia.
By supporting DESERVE, you honor the sacrifice of our Veterans and help them lead fulfilling lives.
Before DESERVE, many Veterans were missing vital medical appointments or paying exorbitant taxi fares just to receive care. DESERVE bridges this gap by providing free transportation, enabling Veterans to prioritize their health and well-being without financial strain.
Arthur Phillips, a U.S. Army Veteran, suffered a stroke in 2013, leaving his right side paralyzed. Unable to drive and with his wife physically unable to assist him, Mr. Phillips faced missed therapy sessions and high transportation fees. When he discovered DESERVE, everything changed. On March 28, 2014, with the support of DESERVE and Impact’s co-founder and Vietnam Veteran Darrell, Mr. Phillips celebrated a major milestone—walking out of the clinic free of his wheelchair.
"DESERVE is truly a blessing. To know I had someone to take me meant I could keep all my appointments and recover faster." —Arthur Phillips
Bill Vayda, a U.S. Navy Veteran, was DESERVE’s very first client. In the final year of his life, Mr. Vayda was completely immobile, and his wife, Mary Nell, couldn’t lift him in and out of their vehicle. When she called for assistance, a wheelchair-accessible taxi quoted a staggering $500. DESERVE provided the help they needed, offering reliable, compassionate transportation during a difficult time.
"I can’t tell you how blessed we were to have this help during Bill’s illness. The driver was so kind and friendly. I just couldn’t handle Bill by myself. Thank you for providing this wonderful service to our community." —Mary Nell Vayda
